Paul Owen Ertle, 78, of Sandusky, passed away Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born Aug. 27, 1945, in Massillon, to Charles and Viola (Rine) Ertle.

Paul graduated from Massillon High School. He was a union bricklayer and owned his own construction company in Massillon, Ertle & Son Construction. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on old cars, fishing, boating, flying both RC and real airplanes, and was a beloved member of Christ Community Church in Sandusky.

Paul is survived by his wife, Donetta "Donnie" (Barrett) Ertle; son, Patrick (April) Ertle; daughter, Ashley (Darrell) Dunbar; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Paul and Pamela; sisters, Janet and Barbara; and ex-wife, Patricia.

At Paul's request, cremation will take place. Visitation for friends and family will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, until the time of Paul's memorial service at 11 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2401 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.

Those wishing to contribute to Paul's memory may do so to the church or Southern Care Hospice.
