Phyllis Ann Shockney Lopez, 61, of Bedminster, New Jersey, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, at the oncology pavilion at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital - Somerset, at Somerville, New Jersey.
Phyllis was born Feb. 17, 1961, in Sandusky, to Phillip J. and Viola E. (Sutorius) Shockney. She was a 1979 graduate of Perkins High School and she received her baccalaureate degree in business administration from Capital University, Columbus, Ohio, in 1983. Phyllis was a bank officer in the trust department of BankOne in Columbus, where she met Otto B. Lopez of the New York City area. The two were wed in Dec., 1994, and they established residence in Bedminster, New Jersey. Phyllis enjoyed decorating her home, caring for her gardens and yard, and spending time with her neighbors.
Phyllis is survived by her sister, Janet (Philip) Gardner of Sandusky; stepchildren, Elizabeth, Steven, Ben, and Andrew Lopez; stepgrandchildren; cousins; and caring neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
A Christian graveside service will take place and burial will take place beside her husband at Flushing Cemetery, Queens, New York City.
Bruce C. Van Arsdale Funeral Home of Somerville, New Jersey, assisted the family.

Phyllis was friend of my Sister, Sharon Herlihy Heller. They were friends throughout Perkins Schools and still kept in touch. I have fond memories of their group of friends visiting us. Phyllis always had a smile and we enjoyed talking together. My prayers for you is that God will give your hearts peace during this difficult time. Charlotte Herlihy Hartlaub. Sandusky Ohio

I´m so sorry to hear of Phyllis´ passing. She was my first neighborhood friend when I moved to Ohio. We spent our high school years hanging out together as best friends and she was a bridesmaid in my wedding. We kept in touch through holiday cards and a yearly telephone call. I will cherish the wonderful childhood memories I have of Phyllis. My deepest sympathy to her family, Janet and Phil. May her memory be a blessing.
