Raymond Gibbs Sr.

Raymond Gibbs Sr., 86, Sandusky, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023, in the Providence Care Center.

He was born in Manchester, KY on June 13, 1937 to the late Thomas Scott and Pearl (Adams) Gibbs.

He was employed as a coal miner, and also worked for the former Oscar Meyer, prepared Foods, Sandusky Dressed Beef, Sandusky Folding Box and the Lear Corporation.

Ray was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Sandusky, and loved woodworking, being known for his handmade canes, crafting and making bird houses, the outdoors, bird watching and people watching, reading the bible, and singing hymns, but his greatest joy of all was spending time with his grandchildren and the rest of his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice (Wyatt) Gibbs; sons, Raymond (Christine Charnego) Gibbs Jr., Richard (Kris) Gibbs, Shannon (Victoria) Gibbs; daughter, Lynn (Mark) Stults; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and sisters, Margaret Gibbs, Billie Jean Jones, and Frances Brock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth Gibbs and Linzy Gibbs; and a sister, Faye Rice.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2 P.M. in Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Rev. David Hixson will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling the arrangements.
