Raymond Missey Obituary

Raymond Albert Ray Missey

May 15, 1936 - Dec 13, 2025

Norwalk

Raymond Albert "Ray" Missey, 89, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 13, 2025, at his home on Townline 131 West, surrounded by loved ones. Born May 15, 1936, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Ray lived a full and vibrant life marked by hard work, adventure and faith.

In 1954, Ray married the love of his life, Adele Antoinette Conte, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in devotion and shared purpose. Together, they raised five children, Laurie and the late Chuck Parrish, Jeanne and the late Christopher "Kit" Osgood, Raymond and Maureen (Aguiar) Missey, Matt and Cathy (Coy) Missey and the late Andrew Missey and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ray began his career in trucking in 1959 and later added farming in 1968, doing both to make ends meet. His choice of work reflected his entrepreneurial spirit and love of the land. In 1975, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of earning his pilot's license and buying an airplane, his greatest joy apart from family and faith. Known for his compassion and generosity, Ray never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

A longtime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Norwalk and then First Faith in Sandusky, Ray and Adele also served the community as "Walk to Emmaus" retreat leaders for over a decade.

A celebration of Ray's life will follow the 10 a.m. church service Sunday, April 26, 2026, at First Faith Community Church, 225 E Jefferson Street, Sandusky. A reception will follow. We invite everyone who knew Ray to come and remember him with us!
