Reuben D. "David" Brownell

Sandusky

Reuben D. "David" Brownell, 83, residing in Sandusky, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026, at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

David was born December 19, 1942, in Sandusky, to the late Reuben and Dorothy (Woodmeier) Brownell.

David was a 1960 graduate of Sandusky High School. He later retired from Ford Motor Company after 35 years of dedicated service. Reuben was a proud member of Masonic Lodge 329. In his free time, he enjoyed taking peaceful drives along the Sandusky waterfront, going on cruises, and collecting watches. Above all else, David cherished the time he spent with his family and friends, creating many lasting memories with those he loved.

David is survived by his wife, Cheryl A. (Jaycox) Brownell, whom he married February 15, 1979; daughter, Christine Duffy of Waukesha, Wisconsin; sons, David John (Denise) Brownell of Castalia, and Rob (Michelle) Brownell of Toole, Utah; stepdaughter, Julie (Robert) Gau of Bradenton, Florida; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and loving friends.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his two sisters, Shirley Good and Jean Holz.

Private family services will take place with inurnment in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
