Ruby Lee Monroe, 98, residing in Cleveland and formerly of Marblehead, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, at David Simpson Hospice, Cleveland.

She was born August 7, 1927, in Doddsville, Mississippi, to the late Napoleon Walker and Ida (Pittman) Walker, and to that union, seven children were born, Ruby being the sixth of seven.

Ruby grew up in Perthshire, Mississippi, were she married her first husband, Turner Clay, in 1946, and then they relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1947, and he preceded her in death.

She later met and married Benjamin Monroe, both of whom were employed at L. TV Steel. They later retired and moved to Marblehead, and enjoyed traveling, and were members of Gypsum Tabernacle under the leadership of Pastor Boggs, and then New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Sandusky. Ruby was very dedicated to the church and served on the Mother's Board.

When her health declined, and her husband Ben passed away, the family moved her back to Cleveland to be with them.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews and many family members.

She was preceded in death by both her husbands, parents and siblings.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2026, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1920 Eddie Henry Way, Sandusky, with the Rev. C.J. Johnson Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Christy Chapel Cemetery, Port Clinton.
