Richard R. Grundler, 91, residing in Bellevue, passed away Tuesday morning, July 2, 2024, at Stein Hospice Care Center.

Richard was born July 17, 1932, in Sandusky, to Raymond and Ruth (Windisch) Grundler.

Richard graduated from Sandusky High School in 1950. He was a veteran of U.S. Marine Corps who proudly served his country from 1951-1953 as Military Police. He was employed at Ferrel Cheek Steel & Sandusky Plastics for many years. Richard was a member of AMVETS, Marines Forever, Marine Corps League, American Legion, North American Hunting Club, Erie County Conservation League, and Sandusky High School Alumni Association. He truly loved and was a member for many, many years of Marines Forever Memorial Rifle Squad. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting in Montana for antelope, Quebec, Canada for caribou, Pennsylvania and Ohio for deer and small game, and enjoyed fishing The Great Lakes for Salmon and Walleye.

Richard is survived by his son, Tim (Denise) Grundler of Farmington, Minnesota; daughter, Elizabeth (Tom Gould) Grundler of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Nathan Grundler of Eagan, Minnesota, Sarah (Christopher) Perry of Farmington, Minnesota, Richard (Jennifer) Gould of Jackson, Michigan, Sean Clark of Jacksonville, Florida, Timothy (Kassadee Clark) Gould of Toledo, Jennifer (Brian) Starkel of Cincinnati, Rachiel (Peter) Fordos of Cincinnati, and Michael Gould of Midland, Michigan; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Ed Korneffel) Hess of Sandusky; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn (Hilton) Grundler in 1988; and great-grandson, Nathaniel Starkel.

Visitation for friends will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2024, until the time of Richard's funeral at 11:30 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
