Sandusky

Richard "Rick" W. Wahl, 71, residing in Sandusky, passed away suddenly Monday evening, June 27, 2022, at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

Rick was born September 12, 1950, in Sandusky, to the late Richard "Dick" D. and Nancy J. (Uhl) Wahl.

Rick retired from Erie County Maintenance Department after more than 20 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he also enjoyed volunteering for various activities. Rick was a Boy Scout leader of Troop 7 for many years at St. Mary's. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. He enjoyed cooking for his family and camping with his grandchildren. He was especially supportive and loved attending of all his grandchildren's sporting events, band concerts, and school events.

Rick is survived by his wife, Arlene K. (Hill) Wahl; his children, Chad (Lisa) Wahl and Kari (Glenn) Fredericks; grandchildren, Amanda, Alex, Megan, Wednesday, Curtis, and Owen; great-granddaughter, Annika; brother, Doug Wahl; nephews, Jake and Josh Wahl; and his furry buddies, Scooter, Bernie, and Charlie.

In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, James (Sue) Wahl.

Friends may call Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 9:30 am followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Father Zach Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

Papa I wished we had more time together this is not fair you didn't get even see me get to be a mother or your great grandchild grow please guide her in everyway I know your her guardian angel now. I was ur first grandchild and you taught me a lot and helped me in so much ways I beyond charish everything. This feels like nightmare I can't wake from. I not sure how I am going do sometimes without your help now. Please look out for grandma too I know you guys were together for a long time and both you guys took really good care of me like your own child. This is so hard for me because you literally just saw me in hospital with Annika. We love you so so so much. Breaking my heart to just type this. I am going miss spending quality time with you. Love Wednesday and Baby Annika
