Robert Arthur Deitzel, 90, residing in Sandusky, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 8, 2022, at Stein Hospice Care Center surrounded by his family.

Robert was born Nov. 15, 1931, in Graytown, Ohio, to the late Arthur H. and Thelma (Snyder) Deitzel.

Robert was a veteran of U.S. Marine Corps who proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was a yard foreman for 31 years at Cedar Point and seven years at Royal Yacht Marine. Robert was a former member of Sandusky VFW and life-time member of AMVETS. Robert loved his family, raising his children all on his own and instilled his strong work ethic to all of them.

Robert is survived by his companion of 45 years, Hiltrud Morrison; sons, Robert E. (Dorothy) Deitzel Sr. and Michael W. Deitzel; daughter, Pamela J. Deitzel; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; sisters, Linda (Doug) Davis and Mary Chilcote; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sons, Harold J. and William E. Deitzel; two brothers; and five sisters.

Friends may call 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2022, until the time of Robert's funeral at 12 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Minister Starr Ridgley will officiate. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. American Legion Post 83 will conduct military honors.
