Robert "Bob" McConnell, 84, of Sandusky and formerly of Bellevue passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at Parkvue Healthcare Center, Sandusky.

He was born Nov. 3, 1938, in Bellevue, the son of Archie "Pat" and Pauline (Shellhammer) McConnell. He married Karlene Weber on March 11, 1967, in Bellevue, and she preceded him in death in 2014.

Bob was a loving, hard-working father. Through most of his life, he worked two full-time jobs to provide for his family. He worked at A. Schulman as a machine operator before retiring in the early 1990s. After Bob retired, he enjoyed traveling with Karlene, whether it was weekend trips to Amish Country or wintering in Florida. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, camping, and golfing. Bob loved a good joke and was always ready to tell one. He garnered the nickname "Wimpy" during his childhood.

Bob is survived by his children, Boyce (Robyn) McConnell of Fostoria, Phillip (Mary) McConnell of Perrysburg, Diane (Ben) Crawford of Santee, California, Robert (Chris) McConnell Jr. of Alvada, Frank McConnell of Bellevue, Robin (Earl) Bean of Bellevue, Gerald Sams of Clyde, Michael (Theresa) McConnell of Austin, Texas and Michelle McConnell of Sandusky; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Patty Henney of Bellevue and Kenneth McConnell of Bellevue.

Bob was also preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Thomas McConnell, William McConnell, and Loretta Meacham.

Visitation for friends will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, until the time of Bob's memorial service at 1 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 209 Southwest Street, Bellevue. Burial will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials in Bob's honor may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Southern Care Hospice.
