Robert "Captain Pallet" Reed, 56, of Fostoria, and Costa Rica, passed away while traveling abroad Monday, June 20, 2022.
From the shores of the Sandusky Bay to the beaches of Costa Rica, he was a well-traveled man. From fresh caught sushi to a burger from Keith's Dugout, he was a man who found beauty and meaning in life no matter the occasion, location, or reason for being there.
He was always true to himself, his personal values, and his faith-driven beliefs. While his journey toward peace was sometimes filled with chaos and turmoil, he had the unique ability to always find solace, strength, and serenity amongst the pandemonium. Tomorrow was never promised and he never took a single step for granted.
Every grain of sand under barefoot or a piece of gravel under a steel-toed boot, he know that the life that stood above was a truly remarkable and worldly-wise one. One that left memory on everyone that walked that path with him.
Robert is survived by his two children, Katie Reed and Stephan Reed; grandson, Emory Clark; soulmate of more than 12 years, Nadine Purdy; brothers and sisters, Caren, Michael, Sandra, MaryJo, John, and Paul; and an entrepreneurial legacy at Findlay Pallet. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Caroline; ex-wife, Tracey Reed; sister, Patrice; and brothers, Tom, Joe, Dave, Jim, and Daniel.
Robert was a robust character with multiple dimensions and the strongest heart any of us could imagine. To get to know his peace after passing, the family has suggested reading "Johnathon Livingston Seagull" by Richard Bach, and listening to Lou Reed's "Transformer" and preferably doing both on one of the hidden, seemingly undiscovered beaches of eastern (Atlantic side) Costa Rica.
There will be a memorial for Robert on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Stillwater Retreat, 7904 Township Road 120, McComb, Ohio, from 12-6 p.m. There will be food catered by one of Robert's favorite barbecue restaurants, Miller's Meats. Any and all are welcome. The family looks forward to meeting everyone who once crossed paths with Robert.
