Robert "Rob" William Wight, 82, of Port Clinton, passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

He was born April 3, 1941, in Cleveland, the son of Clayton and Mary (Michnay) Wight.

Rob was a graduate of Euclid High School and Case Western Reserve University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in engineering. He worked for 3M in Minnesota until his retirement.

He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church on Catawba Island and was a firm believer in his Lord and Savior. He had his pilot's license and would travel between his job in Minnesota and his house on Middle Bass Island where he enjoyed entertaining his family and friends and going ice fishing in the wintertime.

Bob's survivors include his first cousins, Ruth Paul and Jeff Bugbee; and second cousins, William Gable, Thomas Gable, Suzanne (Gable) Mohler, Barry Noll, and Amy (Noll) Wells.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Captain Thomas A. Wight, USN, Retired.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, until the time of Bob's funeral at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2370 NE Catawba Road, Port Clinton. Pastor Christopher Boyd will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church or Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 Sand Road, Port Clinton, Ohio, 43452.
