Roberta (Russell) Kessler, 81, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Firelands Regional Medical Center after living a fulfilled life.

Roberta was born February 21, 1944, in Sandusky to the late Robert W. and Garnetta E. (Kistler) Russell.

Roberta started her nursing career working in 1963 at Sanford Hospital in Florida and returned to Sandusky in 1966 to begin working for Providence Hospital. She was employed 35 years at Providence Hospital and continued to work at Firelands Regional Medical Center PRN in Pediatric Clinics until her retirement in 2009. Roberta was also employed by Dr. Reagan Bristol as his office nurse for 10-plus years. After her retirement, she spent winters at her Barefoot Bay, Florida home.

She was a member of Sandusky American Legion Auxiliary, Huron Eagles Auxiliary, Moose Lodge Sebastian Florida, Sandusky Orioles Club, Sandusky Yacht Club Auxiliary, Firelands Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and also volunteered in the FRMC gift shop and served on its board for six years. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi, and National 600 Bowling Club. A past member of Providence Hospital Volunteer Association, where she also served on its board for five years. She was an avid bowler and golfer. She was a member of the Mills Creek Panther Golf League and Huron Sawmill Creek Golf League. While in Florida, she continued to stay active on the Barefoot Bay Women's 18-hole Golf League, serving as President for several years, serving as President of the German American Club for 6 years, and participating in weekly darts, euchre, canasta, and pinochle events.

Roberta loved fishing on Lake Erie and visiting Las Vegas with her friends and family. Her favorite pastime was being with her family - they were her world.

She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Kessler Sr.; two sons, Thomas (Angela) Kessler Jr. and Robert Kessler; grandchildren, Brittany (Ansley) Phillips, Michael (Will McRee) Kessler, and Allison (Maxx) Tamburrino; two great-grandchildren, Oscar Phillips and Sophia Tamburrino; and her sister, Sandy Russell.

A Gathering in Celebration of Roberta's Life will be from 3:30-5 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2025, at Sandusky Orioles Club, 533 W. Perkins Ave. Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
