Ronald D. Cross, 75, of Sandusky, and formerly of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, at Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.

He was born Feb. 2, 1947, in Norwalk, to the late Clifton and Janice (Parish) Cross.

In 1966, Ron married the love of his life, Nancy (Burger) Cross. That same year, he was drafted into U.S. Army and stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Ron was a heavy equipment operator and spent most of his working career at Huron Lime Company, retiring after 20 years.

Ron was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Norwalk, where he served as a Deacon. He was also a lifelong member of Norwalk VFW #2473. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling the United States with his wife, Nancy. The past nine years have been spent playing chess, cards, and sharing stories with his friends at Ohio Veterans Home.

Ron is survived by his children, Jon (Eve) Cross, Judy (Eric) Schneider, Jason (Niki) Cross, and Joshua Cross, all of Norwalk; grandchildren, Allisa (Rob) Engel, Hannah (Troy) Merriman, Maise (Bronson) Ziemke, Brie Schneider, Garrett (Kayla) Cross, Ellie (Dustin) Roth, Skyler Cross, Autumn Cross, Sylas Cross, Caleb Cross, Veronica Cross, and Joanna Cross; great-grandson, Tate Merriman; brother, Steve Cross; and sister, Patricia (James) Graefe.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Burger) Cross.

Friends and family are invited to visitation from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church, 250 Benedict Ave., Norwalk. Ron's service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church and Pastor Joe Groff will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk, with full military honors provided.
