Roosevelt Moore Obituary

Roosevelt Moore Jr.

Jan 11, 1953 - Feb 22, 2024

Sandusky

Roosevelt Moore Jr., 71, of Sandusky, a proud veteran of U.S. Marines, peacefully passed away Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024.

Roosevelt was born Jan. 11, 1953, in Lauderdale, Mississippi, to proud parents, the Rev. Roosevelt Moore Sr. and Georgia Mae Parker Moore. Later, the family moved to Sandusky. There as a little boy, he was known to be the protector. He would mean mug and threaten to beat up anyone who bothered those he loved and cared about. Roosevelt was affectionately called Junior or Rosie by those who knew him well. Junior and his little sisters, Clary and Cathy, were like the Three Musketeers as kids. Their bond was "all for one and one for all."

Junior moved to Detroit, Michigan, with his father and stepmother, Ola Moore. He attended Big Angel Elementary School, McMichael Middle School, and Northwestern High School. He later completed his G.E.D in 1986.

Junior was introduced to Christ early in life. He drove charter busses with his father, Rev. Moore Sr. at Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Junior enlisted in U.S. Marines and served honorably. He valued his service highly as he achieved a ranking of Private 1st class. As a soldier, he did a six-month tour in Vietnam. Roosevelt Moore Jr., we thank you for your service.

Junior met Mildred Paris and the two of them were gifted a son, Tobias Joel Moore Paris. He gave them five grandchildren of whom their grandfather was very proud of.

Junior worked at Chrysler and Ford Motor Company. After some health challenges, he medically retired from MacLean-Fogg Component Solutions in Royal Oak.

His loved ones will remember his boisterous laugh that could be heard and recognized anywhere. Anyone who knew him well knew he enjoyed shooting the breeze talking about past memories and life in general as he enjoyed his favorite beverage, a cold beer! Many people fell in love with his Berry White sounding voice and gorgeous smile that lit up a room. He had a passion for Jazz and old school music. The O'Jays was his favorite group. He would secretly sing karaoke style by himself to his favorite tunes while he drove up and down the highway. As a young man, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and being outdoors. He was his own chef and enjoyed his food extremely well done.

He is survived by his son, Tobias Joel Moore Paris; stepmother, Ola Moore; brothers, Alnathan Moore (Joyce) and Gregory Moore; sisters, Lois Nelson, Lori Amison, and Yulonda Moore; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins; longtime friend, Darryl Smith; and friends.

Roosevelt Jr. was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Clary Ree Carr and Catherine Ruffin.

Visitation for friends will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2024, until the time of Rossevelt's funeral at 12 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.

I was his neighbor at Highland towers, I was next door. He also loved his lottery. I'm sad he's gone. Good man, heart of gold.
