Russell L. "Russ" Ferry, 79, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday afternoon, Feb. 5, 2023.

Russ was born March 7, 1943, in Medina, the son of Arden Theodore and Eunice Mae (King) Ferry. He was a proud of being a member of the first graduating class from Perkins High School in 1961. Russ was a veteran, having served honorably in U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier, USS Intrepid, during the Vietnam Era. He worked at New Departure-Hyatt Inc. (a Division of General Motors) for 30 years, retiring in 1997. Over the years, he enjoyed woodworking and was an avid golfer. Actually at one time he had been a scratch golfer and he truly enjoyed golfing in scrambles with others. Russ also used his skills and volunteered for the local area Habitat for Humanity.

He was a member of U.A.W. Local # 913 and a life member of V.F.W. Post # 2529.

Russ is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sandra (Davis) Ferry, whom he married Sept. 10, 1963; daughter, Lisa (Richard) Dutton of Fremont; two sons, Lowell Arden Ferry and Matthew Kyle Ferry, both of Sandusky; two grandchildren, Quinn Miranda Green and her fiance', James Matthews Huff, and Cole Davis Green; and two great-grandchildren, Camden and Athena Green.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Harold "Hal" Houston.

The family will have a private funeral. Burial will be at Perkins Cemetery, Sandusky.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his name to Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 E. Sand Road, Port Clinton, Ohio, 43452, or Habitat for Humanity, 7602 Milan Road, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870.

Arrangements have been entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
