Shelley Whittaker Coe, 68, of Troutman, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023.

She was born June 9, 1955, in Sandusky, to Donald and Thalia Crecelius Whittaker. Shelley was a 1974 graduate of Sandusky High School.

Shelley was a swim instructor, avid Buckeyes fan, and enjoyed swimming. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Shelley was selfless and kind. She will be greatly missed.

Shelley is survived by her children, Michelle Girdler (Benjamin), Mackenzie Woltz (Grant), and Alex Lyon (Sam); siblings, Donald Whittaker, Scott Whittaker (Marian), Cathy Wurzel (Lyle), Tim Whittaker (Denise), Terry Whittaker (Becky), Susan Hunt (Steve), and Tommy Whittaker (Janice); grandchildren, Grant Girdler, Elise Girdler, and Marlee Woltz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and loving husband, Douglas Coe.

Shelley's memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, at the chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Chaplain Chandler Owens officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to YMCA of the USA, ymca.org/donate.
