Stephen James Benedict, 85, residing in Sandusky and formerly of Youngstown, passed away Friday, March 7, 2025, at Firelands Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Stephen was born December 17, 1939, in Youngstown to the late Joseph S. Benedict and Josephine (Nicoletti) Carr.

A 1957 graduate of East High School in Youngstown, Stephen proudly served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. He dedicated over 25 years of his career to working at Sun Oil Company. A passionate golfer, Stephen enjoyed playing the game with friends and found great joy in teaching his granddaughter, Alexa, and watching her develop her skills. He also loved playing cards, watching sports, and, above all, cherishing time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.

Stephen is survived by his wife of 62 years, Andrea (Pinciaro) Benedict; daughter, Deanna Tringhese of Columbiana; two sons, Joseph Benedict of Columbiana and Dr. Steven (Melanie) Benedict of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Alexa and Karissa Tringhese, and Steven and Gianna Benedict; brother, Dave Benedict of Kent; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A celebration of life will take place from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Caffe Capri, 8000 Market St, Boardman, Ohio 44512. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown at later date. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting family with arrangements.
