Sylvia (Gomez) Smith, 69, residing in Florida and formerly of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Sylvia was born May 4, 1954, in Sandusky.
She was employed and retired at General Motors in Sandusky after 30 years of service. Sylvia was a member of New Life Church, Sandusky. Sylvia loved music, Boston Red Sox, spending time with her grandchildren and her dog, Boston, and reading her Bible.
Sylvia is survived by her mother, Ophelia Durso of Huron; daughter, Monica Miller of Sandusky; son, Frankie Miller of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Amanda Yontz of North Carolina, Aaron Yontz of Bellevue, Samantha Miller of Sandusky, and Randi Miller of Sandusky; two great-grandchildren; sister, Stella (Jeff) West of Eaton; three brothers, Robert (Kimberly) Gomez of Sandusky, Richard Gomez of Sandusky, and Daniel Gomez of Sandusky; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her father, Salvadore Gomez; husband, Larry Smith; and grandparents.
Visitation for friends will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, until the time of Sylvia's funeral at 11 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky. Pastor Harvey Studer will preside. Entombment will take place at Meadow Green Memorial Park.
