Tami Nickles Obituary

Tami S. Nickles

Sep 26, 1974 - May 5, 2023

Sandusky

Tami S. Nickles, 48, of Sandusky, died Friday, May 5, 2023, in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

She was born Sept. 26, 1974, in Sandusky, to David Nickles, Vanessa Nickles (stepmother), and Vicki Sullivan.

Tami graduated from Sandusky High School in 1992. Following her graduation, she remained close with many of her high school friends. She attended University of Toledo where she earned a bachelor's in business relations. She then earned her master's in business administration and started working in Toledo. Tami utilized her knowledge and strong business acumen to establish great relationships throughout the region.

On top of work, Tami made a difference in many communities. She loved to motivate her Body Pump and RPM friends at Ascension Borgess Health and Fitness in Kalamazoo. She also taught fitness classes for many years in Perrysburg. Tami passionately cared for all animals, especially her beloved pugs. She fiercely advocated for animals and spent a great deal of time teaching others how to properly care for their pets. Tami probably rescued more animals than Steve Irwin!

If you knew Tami, you certainly knew that she loved to be in charge. Tami was a leader in everything she did. She was an avid chef, always heading up the Thanksgiving production. She earned praise every year for bringing her bottomless meal together on time. Tami also shopped till she dropped to take care of her people. If you were with Tami, you never went without. She was always prepared for everything and never missed the opportunity to care for her circle. The world was a better place thanks to Tami's really big circle.

Tami was an amazing daughter, sister, and aunt.

She is survived by her father, David Nickles; stepmother, Vanessa (Luzader) Nickles; brothers, Charlie and Mark; sisters, Dawn and Amy; nephews, Nathan, Connor, and Jake; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Vicki; and grandparents, Richard and Wanda Nickles, Charlie and Bev Sullivan, and Franklin and Roxie Luzader.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023, until the time of Tami's funeral at 2 p.m. at David F. Koch Funeral & Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with the Rev. Mel Sayler officiating. A reception will follow the service at Boeckling Club, 614 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to The Animal House Rescue, 640 Wyman Street, Toledo, Ohio, 43609, online to Ohio Pug Rescue at www.ohiopugrescue.com (Tax ID: 31-1748269), or your favorite charity.

I loved Tami's spirit and motivation she dished out during boot camp and circuit classes at L.A. Fitness in Toledo. She was such an inspirational, cheerful, intelligent and kind woman. I am so sorry for this tragic loss.

Tami and I used to sit next to each other at work. We both were crazy for our dogs and had what many people thought were too many of them for 1 household, but we didn't care. We would swap stories about our crazy fur babies. She loved her animals so much and would do anything for them. Tami was always fun, energetic, and laughing. We stayed in touch through Facebook and I loved seeing how much she loved her fur babies. The world was better with her in it. My condolences to her family and close friends.

I first met Tammy when she started working at NFO. I liked her immediately and we had a great work relationship. We both shared dog and cat stories often and I felt lucky to know her. She was smart, funny and kind. I didn't see her for many years and reconnected with her at Aqua Hut. She remembered me - that was just the kind of person she was. She really connected with people and she was genuine.
I am heartbroken to hear of her death especially because she had such a zest for life. My deepest condolences to her family, friends and all that will miss her. Fly high sweet girl! I'll never forget you.

No words can describe the loss of this beautiful soul. Believe me I´ve tried and nothing comes out...
I was honored to be her neighbor and friend. As a friend she would watch my son play rugby. That´s Tami.
She would stay with your 4 legged baby as they took their last breathe. That´s Tami.
The girl whose hair is radiant sunshine, music in her soul, a disco ball in a dark room. That´s Tami.

You´ll be missed dearly,
Derek and Dawn Schaefer

So sorry for the loss of this beautiful young woman! She was one of the best neighbors two people could ask for. When I broke my wrist, she took me to the hospital and stayed with me until family arrived. Didn't matter that she had plans; she stayed. She is an angel in Heaven and one too soon. I send love and prayers to Tami's family. Tami was one of the fitness instructors I worked with at Borgess. She was truly a beautiful person inside and out. She had a regular crowd of class participants that looked forward to her contagious energy and motivational workouts each week. Everyone at Borgess will miss her always.

I'm so stunned by this news and praying for Tami's family. I grew up down the street from Tami and we were great friends for all our childhood. We spent many days swimming, playing barbies, and going to cedar point. She was always such a kind person. I know how.much she loved her fur babies and will miss all of her facebook posts and pics. Heaven gained an angel.
