Thelma Blair Obituary

Thelma M. Blair

Sep 19, 2025

Sandusky

Thelma M. Blair, 96, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully at her home following a long battle with leukemia early Friday morning, September 19, 2025. Born January 7, 1929, in Vickery, Thelma was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, and sister, known for her thoughtful nature and generosity.

Thelma spent most of her professional life serving Erie County, first with Philco in Sandusky, and later at the Erie County Courthouse, where she dutifully served the county commissioners, probate court, and the auditors' offices for almost 40 years. She retired in 1999 and spent several years working at Cedar Point, which she often referred to as her happiest years.

Thelma's dedication extended beyond her professional life and into her faith and community. She was actively involved in Bible study groups and served on the board of the former Lutheran Memorial Home in Sandusky, as well as being a former secretary for the Lake Erie Conference of ALC Women for many years. Thelma spent several years helping sell Christmas Greenery for Sandusky Boy Scout Troop 8. Many remember Thelma for her delicious pies and cookies and her dedication to her Lutheran Church. Many remember spending warm summer evenings cleaning soap in her driveway for a church project. As Thelma was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clyde, we are reminded of the comforting words from Psalm 46:1, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

Thelma is survived by her daughter, Karen Meyers of Sandusky; her grandson, Joshua Meyers; her great-grandson, Austin Meyers; and her great-great-grandson, Lukas Meyers. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Anderson and several nieces.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, H. Herman and Freda (Hirt) Brugger; her infant son, Robert Jr.; her siblings, John Brugger, Lillian Arthur, Catherine Genzman, and Shirley Brugger; her former husband, Robert Blair; and her brothers-in-law, Herbert Blair and Delos Blair.

Visitation will be at noon Friday, September 26, 2025, until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. at Auxter-Recker Funeral Home, 218 S Main St., Clyde. Pastor Sam Dagg will officiate. Burial will follow at Parkhurst Cemetery, Clyde.

Memorial contribu-tions in honor of Thelma Blair may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 147 W. Forest St, Clyde, OH 43410, Cancer Services, 505 E. Perkins Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870 or Stein Hospice Services, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.

Thelma was a wonderful lady. She was my break relief at cedar point many years ago. She was also so full of life and laughter. She was always so fast to get us on breaks and she just loved doing her job and was a blast to work with. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Fly high angel and keep smiling RIP
