Thomas J. Kessler, 82, residing in Castalia, passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 6, 2024, at Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.

Thomas was born March 1, 1941, in Sandusky, to Ralph and Lucille (Giedeman) Kessler.

Thomas graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1959. He was a veteran of U.S. Army who proudly served during the Vietnam War. He retired from Ford Motor Company, Sandusky Plant after over 40 years of service in 2006. Thomas was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and Amvets Post #17. He enjoyed fishing, Cleveland sports, bird watching, and trips to Frankenmouth, Amish Country, and downtown Sandusky. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife Barb, his children, and grandchildren.

Thomas is survived by his sons, Thom Kessler of Colorado and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Kessler of Sandusky; grandchildren, Kayla (Ryan), TJ (Katherine), Julia, Kyle, and Jacobee; four great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Kessler of Sandusky; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara (LeValley) Kessler in 2022; and brother, Ralph "Bud" Kessler Jr. in 2011.

Visitation for friends will be 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, until the time of the prayer service at 9:30 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
