Thomas A. "Tom" Truman, 77, residing in Huron, passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, at Providence Care Center after a brief illness.

Tom was born Sept. 27, 1946, in Sandusky, to Francis and Pearl (Keller) Truman.

Tom graduated from Sandusky High School in 1965 and also received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Ohio Business College. He retired in 2006 after over 37 years at New Departure in Sandusky. He obtained his enrolled agent license and worked with his wife at North Coast Tax Service as a tax preparer. Tom was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary. He also had his Captain's license to work on the Great Lakes for Rescue Marine in Marblehead. Tom enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and was a luthier; building musical string instruments including dulcimers and a revere harp for his wife.

Tom is survived by his wife, Carol (Polta) Truman, whom he married May 20, 1995; three children, Tamara (Jim) Bryan, Kimberly (Drew) Riter, and Scott (Diane) Truman; stepdaughter, Kelly (Matthew) McClure; four grandchildren, Derek, Makenna, Mason, and Carson; great-granddaughter, Lucy; chosen family members, Joyce Cobb, Paul Cooksey, Carl and Sheila Henson, and Allen Warren; dog, Jack; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alice Waldecker; and three dogs, Murphy, Rosy, and Piper.

A Rosary Service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky, until time of Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. with Father Phil Feltman presiding.
