Tonda Lynn O'Brien, 71, residing in Castalia, passed away late Thursday evening, October 30, 2025, at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

Tonda was born June 2, 1954, in Morgantown, West Virginia, to the late Cyrald and Elladene (Tharp) Taft.

Tonda graduated from Margaretta High School. She dedicated over 30 years of service as a caseworker with Erie County Job and Family Services. She enjoyed watching soap operas, NCIS, and Blue Bloods; gardening, fishing, cooking, and canning; and, most of all, spending time with her family and friends.

Tonda is survived by her husband, Donald O'Brien, whom she married in 1997. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Tammy Lynn Antonio; stepson, Frank (Jessica) O'Brien; grandchildren, Bryce (Taylor) Scott and Lyndi Herborn; great-grandchild, Xylani Keahey; and her good friends, Lois Whitman, Karen Conley and Roberta Crum.

In addition to her parents, Tonda is preceded in death by her daughter, Larenda Scott.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2025, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor Wally Gilbert presiding. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
