Vanessa Brown-Jordan Obituary

Vanessa "Van" Brown-Jordan

Apr 6, 1958 - Mar 22, 2025

Sandusky

Vanessa "Van" Brown-Jordan transitioned to her heavenly home at Stein Hospice to join her husband Saturday, March 22, 2025.

She was born April 6, 1958, in Sandusky and attended Sandusky High School.

Vanessa worked for over 30 years at Ohio Veterans Home, from housekeeping to retiring in the finance department. She served consecutive terms as the President of the Union, standing up for the rights of her peers. Vanessa was also a proud member of Greater Faith Ministries.

She was a true lady, as her father George used to say. She was a prime example of how to maneuver as a woman, cherishing family and treating everyone with love. Vanessa stood in many places and many spaces for many people, from the boardroom to the streets. Her door was always open, and you would never leave empty-handed, whether it was a meal, a bed, laughter, a memory, or a word.

She leaves to cherish her memory, mother, Lois Brown, Sandusky; sisters, Sherri Shine, Sandusky, and Melanie Brown, Columbus; sons, George (Natalie) Brown, Lawrence (Ashley) Jordan Jr. and Jason Hicks all of Sandusky; daughters, Melonne (Robert) Pope and Lois Brown, both of Sandusky; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.W. Jordan Sr.; father, George Brown; siblings, Laurie Coleman, Stephan Brown and Deirdra Brown.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2025, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery.

Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling arrangements.

I'm going to miss Van's commanding presence. When family sees her, you knew things were going to be alright even when she didn't feel her best.

So Very Sad to hear of Vanessa's Passing. I worked closely with Vanessa in the Dietary Department from 1992-1997. I was always impressed with her energy, straight forward approach and kindness towards others. I will always Remember how committed Vanessa was towards our Veterans Well Being at the Ohio Veteran's Home. Rest in Peace Dear Vanessa..Amen
