Virginia M. Stewart, 90, of Wellington, passed peacefully into Heaven on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at her home under the care of New Life Hospice.

She was born Sept. 27, 1933, to George Harry and Clemmah Viola (Ritchey) Shuman. Virginia graduated from New London High School in 1951 and later earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification. Always caring for others, Virginia loved working as a LPN for Weber's Nursing Home, Tresie's Nursing Home, and Welcome Nursing Home over the years.

When she wasn't caring for patients at work, Virginia was caring for her own large family at home. She cherished the years spent raising her children and later in life found immense joy with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored. She also liked bowling, BINGO, going to casinos, and taking cruises to the Caribbean Islands.

Left to treasure Virginia's memory are her six children that she lovingly referred to as her rose and five thorns. The thorns are her five daughters, Valerie Roberts, Vickie Young, Vaughn (Rolland) Pocock, Veta Young, and Virna Houston; the rose was her only son, Rickie Kimbler; sister, Ruth H.; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Robert M. Kimbler and Russell Stewart; granddaughter, Robin Justice; sister, Hazel O'Brian; brother, Chuck Shuman; and stepson, Jessie Stewart.

Visitation for family and friends will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, until the time of Virginia's funeral at 1 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, Ohio, 44851. Pastor Doug Lang will officiate. Interment at Fitchville Cemetery will immediately follow the funeral.
