Virginia Taylor Obituary

Virginia D. Taylor

Nov 23, 1942 - Dec 13, 2022

Sandusky

Virginia Dale Taylor, 80, of Sandusky, a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, transitioned peacefully Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones.

Virginia was born Nov. 23, 1942, in Millry, Alabama, to the late Verda Lee and Carrie Turner. She was the oldest daughter out of 12 siblings and had many fond memories growing up in her childhood home in "Red Creek" filled with much teasing, love, and laughter. She joined Mt. Zion AME Baptist church at an early age. In May, 1958, she married her lifetime sweetheart, David Taylor, and their union produced four children. In 1967, the family moved to Sandusky and shortly after arriving, she joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Virginia worked various jobs, but was mostly a dedicated stay at home mother who treasured her children, instilling strong values that influenced them throughout their childhood and into adulthood. She especially enjoyed her role as Granny to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and neighborhood kids.

Virginia is survived by her brothers, AD (Hattie Mae) of Millry, Alabama, Ervin (Fannie Y.) Turner of Sandusky, and Curtis (LaTisha), Bobby Ray (Princess), and Terry Lee (Desiree), all of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Ethel Mae McKeller of Sandusky, and Minnie Pearl (Ronnie) Donald, Carrie Mae Frost, and Stella (Willie) Sims, all of Millry, Alabama; children, Charles (Sheila) Taylor, Jerry (Donna) Taylor, John Taylor, and Dollie (Dannie) Edmon, all of Sandusky; grandchildren, Tamura, Shaquanda, Sharlisa (Maurice), Angee, Connor, Kyle, Jerry Jr (Milan) Jerron, Dayonna, John Jr., and Kirsten (Justin); 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, David Taylor; parents, Verda Lee and Carrie Turner; brothers, Ellis James and Verda Lee Jr. Turner; sister, Annie Mitchell; and one grandchild.

Virginia's funeral will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1920 Eddy Henry Blvd, Sandusky. There will be a wake from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Burial will be at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. A repast will take place following the funeral at Providence Baptist Church.

Our family would like to express our gratitude for the care and help given to Virginia by Providence Care Center and Stein Hospice.
