William "Big Bill" Arrington 74, of Sandusky, transitioned into eternal rest Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at his home.

He was born Nov. 18, 1948, in Tallulah, Louisiana, and was raised by his mother, Emma Lee (Arrington) Gowdy, and grandfather, Willie Arrington.

At a young age of five, he moved to Sandusky with his mother and siblings and attended Sandusky High School.

He was drafted into U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, receiving his GED while in the Army, and was discharged with the rank of Sergeant.

Bill worked for Union Chain, Van Dresser, and Mississippi Lime, where he retired after 29 years.

He loved playing pool, with his game of choice being 9-ball, fishing, yard work, and he was an all around handy man. Bill was blessed with a loving and close knit family.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva (Mills) Arrington, which they cherished 58 years of memories together and 48 years of marriage; daughter, Michelle Amison-Lipiec of Sandusky; sons, William "Will" Arrington Jr., Marvin Arrington, Derrick (Tasheia) Arrington, Marcus McLaughlin, Dana (Brittany) McLaughlin, all of Sandusky, and Patrick Arrington of Indiana; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother, Charles Gowdy of Sandusky; special niece, Cheryl Scott; sister-in-law, Frances (Cooper) Arrington; special friend, Javan (Christine) Webb; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Lee; brothers, Freddie Atkins, Robert "Butch" Arrington, and Mark "Sweet Mook" Gowdy; uncles, Willie Arrington, James Arrington, Paul Love, and Peter Love; sister-in-law, Jackie Jackson; and grandfather, Willie Arrington.

Bill's funeral will be 12 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery with American Legion Post 83 and V.F.W. Post 2529 Honor Guard providing the military tribute. Condolences may be made to the family by visiting toftfuneralhome.com.

To the family of Arrington and family and friends I extend my condolences, prayers and love. I pray that god give everyone the strength, he promised that he will never forsake us and leave us and never give no more that we can handle. Stand fast on his word and I promise he will get you through he´s a merciful god and loving no matter how things may seem he is there! May god keep you safe love Terry payton and family.
