William Moore Obituary

William Henry Moore Sr.

Mar 30, 1933 - Mar 25, 2023

Sandusky

William Henry Moore Sr., 89, of Sandusky, transitioned peacefully to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family.

William, affectionately known as Henry or Mr. Moore, was born March 30, 1933, in Lauderdale, Mississippi, to the late Harris and Maggie Moore.

The youngest of four children, he attended Meridian Public Schools until the third grade when he had to go to work in the cotton fields. He worked in the fields until his late teens when he moved to Sandusky. Henry met his first wife, Augusta Marie Rollison Moore, and enlisted in U.S. Army in 1953 until being honorable discharged in 1955. He then worked for G & C Foundry and Brown Industry for several years.

He married his first wife, Augusta, in 1955, and to that union, eight children were born. He was a member of First Ministries Church, Sandusky, where his daughter, E. Bonnie Grove, is the pastor, and he was a great supporter of her ministry. Henry also liked fishing, hunting, and playing cards with his crew.

He is survived by his children, Pastor Ernestine "E. Bonnie" Grove, William H. Moore Jr., Johnny H. "Heckmo" Moore, Jeffrey E. Moore, Randy (Brenda) Moore, and Bridget Seavers, all of Sandusky, Laurie (Alphius) White Jr. of Huber Heights, Trudy (Earl) Conway of Dayton, Eddie Rae of Mississippi, Lisa Short of Los Angeles, California, and Mary Bell of Buffalo, New York; special daughter, Joyce Pace Caffey; 60 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and special nieces, Linda Williams of Meridian, Mississippi, and and Bonnie Williams of Youngstown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; second wife, Beatrice Moore DuBose; son, Timothy Rollison; siblings, Mary, Richard, and Eula; twin granddaughter, Tameka in infancy; four great-grandsons; and others.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023, until the time of William's funeral at 12 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

We, my siblings and I use to call him our Teddy Bear Uncle because when he came to Mississippi to visit he made a point to include us in some of the fun. And he was short like us. Then later in life I enjoyed planting tomatoes in his garden with him and enjoyed stories of when he bought and drove his favorite cars. We ended our phone calls with. "Love you much Unk" his answer: "2 times". I felt this was true. My Unk.
