William Carl Steinfeldt returned to his Savior Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Bill was born in LaPorte, Indiana, July 12, 1929, the only child of Helene Meinberg Steinfeldt and William A. Steinfeldt.

Bill graduated from LaPorte Indiana High School in 1947 and began a career as a draftsman with Allis-Chalmers, MFG, that lasted nearly 40 years, interrupted only by service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.

Returning to LaPorte, Bill met, loved and was united in marriage to Carolyn Brown Lejman at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Michigan City, Indiana, October 29, 1982.

Bill affirmed his belief in a loving God, and after being baptized on August 4, 1929, he lived as a lifelong Lutheran, living out that faith in a compassionate God and serving his Lord in several ways.

He loved sports, especially Indiana Hoosier Basketball and Chicago Cubs, and played well into his fifties. Bill also enjoyed taking care of his home and garden, always trying each day to bring a smile to someone's face.

Bill is survived by a Christ-centered family, including his wife, Carolyn; stepdaughter, the Reverend Juli Lejman-Guy, Canton; stepson, Christopher (Kelly), Newburgh, Indiana; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2025, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A Celebration of Life and Resurrection for William will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church, 106 Scheid Rd. Sandusky. The service will be live-streamed on Facebook at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sandusky.
