Alfred L. "Lee" Ferguson passed away at his home after a long and well-fought battle with cancer.
Lee was born Sept. 7, 1946, to George G. and Mildred (Parrish) Ferguson.
He attended Willard High School and joined U.S. Army in 1963. He served proudly in Vietnam in 1966-1967, as part of the 109 Quartermaster Air Delivery attached to the 101 Airborne Division and was honorably discharged in 1968 with a rank of Specialist E5.
Lee was a devoted employee of Norfolk Southern Railroad from 1969-2005. He was an avid golfer for many years and life-time member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1238. He was also a devoted and motivated member of Bellevue Friday Night Alcoholics Anonymous.
Lee is survived by his wife, Bernadette (Klein) Ferguson, whom he married in 1983; sons, Timothy (CJ) Ferguson of Bellevue, Todd (Bernita Montgomery) Ferguson of Willard, Christopher (Lisa) Ferguson of Bellevue, and Robert J. (Kendra) Smithson of Willard; daughter, Jessica (Kennith) Butterfield of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Carolyn (Charles) Ousley of Florida; brothers, Lowell (Annette) Ferguson of Denver, Colorado, and James (Marian) Ferguson of Elyria; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Earl, Bobby Wayne, and Garland Ferguson; and sisters, Linda Poole and Cheryl Bundren.
Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Auxter Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. Lee's funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2023, at the funeral home. Military graveside services will follow at Bellevue City Cemetery with Bellevue VFW, American Legion, and Marine Corps League providing the honors.
