Arthur Gerold Obituary

Arthur F. "Artie" Gerold

Mar 15, 1943 - Sep 13, 2024

Huron

Arthur F. Gerold, Jr., 81, of Huron, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 13, 2024.

Artie was born to Arthur and Ruby (Shortliff) Gerold on March 15, 1943. He was their only boy and took his job as little/big brother very seriously. Artie was born and raised in Sandusky, graduated from St. Mary's Central Catholic, worked for Ford Motor for nearly 40 years, and in his retirement, he enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels.

He loved Sandusky, and did not understand why anyone would want to live anywhere else. You could always find Artie on his lawn mower, filling his bird feeders, researching ways to keep squirrels out of said bird feeders, or on a bar stool with a cold beer, surrounded by friends. He was passionate about supporting local businesses, never met a dog he didn't like, brought Tupperware to restaurants to bring home leftovers, and had the nicest grass in all of Ohio.

Artie is survived by his wife, Marty; his children, Michael, Amy, Beth and Amanda;

grandchildren, Bryan, Lauren, Andrew, Matthew, Sam, Ben, Sarah, Emma, Deacon and Zachary; great-grandchildren, Ava, Gavin, Noah, Juniper and Kyngstyn; beloved sisters, Fay and Chris.

Artie never liked being the center of attention and was adamant he did not want any type of services. Instead, we will be sitting around drinking Old Milwaukee, eating leftovers, and telling our favorite stories of one of the best men we have ever known.

In his honor, donate to Back to the Wild, 4504 Bardshar Rd P.O. Box 423, Castalia, OH 44824 or your favorite (non-Republican) charity.
