Barbara Ann Wiedenheft, 81, of Sandusky, passed away suddenly Friday morning, March 17, 2023, at home.

She was born June 9, 1941, in Port Clinton, and graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1959 and from St. Luke's School of Nursing, Cleveland. Barbara was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sandusky, where she and her husband, Paul, served as Lutheran Synod delegates for many years. She was a registered nurse, working at various hospitals and nursing homes in the area, retiring in 2008 from Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, where she was a nurse in the psychiatric care center. Barbara loved being a homemaker and enjoyed decorating her house and planting plants for the seasons and holidays.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Paul Wiedenheft, who is under hospice care at Providence Care Center, Sandusky; daughter, Wendy Wiedenheft; son, David Wiedenheft; sister, Carolyn Yensen; two first cousins, Nancy Stoner and Linda Newton; and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other relatives.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marie (Baker) Yensen; and beloved aunt, Ruth Swartz.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Barbara's funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Bardshar Rd., Sandusky. The Rev. Kathleen Schibler will officiate. Burial will be at Castalia Cemetery.
