Paul Wiedenheft Obituary

Paul C. Wiedenheft

Oct 11, 1939 - Dec 6, 2023

Sandusky

Paul C. Wiedenheft, 84, of Sandusky, passed away Wednesday evening, Dec. 6, 2023, at Providence Care Center, Sandusky, with his daughter and son at his bedside after being under hospice care for the entire year.

He was born Oct. 11, 1939, in Sandusky, and graduated from Margaretta High School in 1957, where he was class President. Paul was a self-employed dairy farmer with his brother, Larry. Together, they owned and operated Wiedenheft Brothers Dairy Farm INC., until Paul's retirement in 2001. They were a bulk milk supplier to Toft's Dairy. Paul was a member and past President of Sandusky Cooperative Milk Producers Association. Now the family business is owned and operated by Paul's nephews, Mark and Rob Wiedenheft, as a beef and grain farm. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sandusky, where Paul sang in the church choir for many years, taught adult and youth Sunday school, served on the counsel, including past President and many other chairs, and past team manager of the Venice #1 dartball team. Paul, and his wife, Barbara, were long-time representatives of Trinity Lutheran Church during the annual northwest synod assembly. He enjoyed fellowship, family gatherings, New Year's parties, fireworks, attending local sporting events, playing sports back in the day (especially baseball), making and sharing his homemade wine, Couples Card Club, and being volunteer snow fall measurer for the N.W.S. during his retirement.

He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Wiedenheft; son, David Wiedenheft; brothers, Larry (Pat) Wiedenheft, Allen Wiedenheft, and Dennis (Diane) Wiedenheft; sister in-law, Carolyn Yensen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife and caretaker for the last few years, Barbara (Yensen) Wiedenheft, who passed away March 17, 2023; parents, Oliver "Butch" and Alice (Mix) Wiedenheft; and sister in-law, Phyllis "Tim" Wiedenheft.

Visitation for friends will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Paul's funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Bardshar Rd., Sandusky. The Rev. Jen Herrmann will officiate. Burial will be at Castalia Cemetery.
