Charlene Henney Obituary

Charlene Grace Henney

Apr 26, 1939 - Aug 9, 2025

Norwalk

Charlene Grace Henney, 86, residing in Norwalk, passed away peacefully, with family by her side, Saturday morning, August 9, 2025, at Fisher-Titus Hospital.

Charlene was born April 26, 1939, in Greenwich, to Harry and Gertrude (Livengood). She married Gary Henney in 1963 and raised two sons in Monroeville, later moving to Norwalk.

Charlene had a passion for her church and her Trinity Lutheran family. Over the years, she took great pride in singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, being a church greeter, and the fellowship of her beloved congregation.

Charlene had a big heart and a genuine interest in others. She made people feel seen and valued regardless of what they believed or what obstacles life had placed in front of them. She had an uncanny ability to draw people into her universe.

She loved her dog Crusoe, as well as Bolt, who passed several years ago. She had a passion for her garden, picking and canning vegetables and sharing her spaghetti sauce, hot pepper salad, and cucumber salad with family and friends.

Charlene worked several jobs over the years, including at Faulhaber bicycle seat factory, Cooperrider Gas and was a long-time quality control supervisor at Venture Packaging in Monroeville.

Charlene is survived by her sons, Gail (Cheryl) Henney and Greg (Alison) Henney; grandchildren, Brianne (Matt) Schock, Jacquelynne (Brian) Cress, Glenn Thivener, Robyn (Zachary) Reyna, Reagan (Michaela) Rausch, and Kennedy (Kali) Henney; eight great-granchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother Jim (Bev) Graffice.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude and Harry; and siblings, Paul, Robert, Pauline, Ralph, Harold, Mary Ann, Shirley, Katherine, William, Howard, and Edwin; and granddaughter, Kaitey.

Memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroeville, with a Celebration of Life immediately following in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Trinity Lutheran Church. You can also honor Charlene by adopting a pet or planting a tree.
