Charles Hoefert Obituary

Charles D. "Chuck" Hoefert

Dec 16, 1956 - Jul 8, 2025

Clyde

Charles D. "Chuck" Hoefert, 68, passed away peacefully late Tuesday morning, July 8, 2025, in his sleep at his family home in Clyde.

Born December 16, 1956, in Buffalo, New York, the son of Wilbert Carl and Charlotte Meta (Eichler) Hoefert. He was a 1974 graduate of Margaretta High School and later attended The Ohio State University.

Chuck had worked for Erie County Maintenance Department for over 20 years before retiring in 2010. He later went on to work at Ventra Sandusky before retiring again in 2023.

He will be remembered for his one-of-a-kind sense of humor and his knowledge of "Rock and Roll." Rooting for Guardians and Buffalo Bills very loudly. He is already greatly missed by his whole family. He was well known by many he called friends. Chuck will also be remembered for how he loved traveling, especially with his wife, going on trips around the country to see family and his many friends.

He is survived by his lovely bride, Susan "Sue" (Riley) Hoefert, who was his faithful companion for the last 30 years, having recently celebrated their anniversary June 28, 2025. Chuck was very proud of his three children, Matthew Charles Hoefert, Jennifer (Craig) Bilbrey, and Charlotte Hoefert. He was also a very proud papa to five grandchildren, Caleb Hoefert, Elijah and Emily Bilbrey, and Alice and Layla Hoefert.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Matthew Charles Hoefert (October 2023).

It was his wish to be cremated and to have no funeral service. The family will have a visitation for Chuck from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. The family also asks that you please come and visit and share your stories of their father, papa, husband, and friend, so that they truly appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this time.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 24359 Northwestern Hwy. Frontage Road, Unit 125, Southfield, MI 48075.

'' A little song, a little dance,a little seltzer down your pants'' Sue you know somewhere Chuck is laughing at this! Such a good friend , always there if you needed something. He had a rapier like wit and a wicked sense of humor. Always made me laugh. There is not enough time or space here for all of my great memories of '' the Duck'' RIP my friend!!
