Claudia Bell (Absher) Toris, 80, residing in Sandusky, passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at Providence Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Claudia was born July 1, 1942, in Bergefork, Virginia to the late Danny and Estella (Howington) Absher.

Claudia had been employed with the former Absher's Nursing Home as head nurse for many years. Claudia was a member of Sandusky Church of God and Sandusky Eagles. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting, playing cards, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Claudia is survived by her daughter, Estea (Chris Trickle) Wallace of Sandusky; a son, Draper Toris of Sandusky; five stepchildren, Mary, Ann, Pat, Lynn, and John Jr.; two grandchildren, Tamica McClure of Sandusky, and Tabitha Terry of Michigan; three brothers, Jack (Janice) Absher, Charles Absher, and Roy (Mary) Absher; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Claudia is preceded in death by her husband, John Toris; a daughter, Reba M Thompson; a stepson, Dan Toris; two brothers, Danny Absher, and Paul Absher; and a sister Ruby Warwick.

A private family Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023. Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory are assisting the family with arrangements.
