Curtis C. Payton, 65, of Sandusky, passed away Friday night, Sept. 6th, 2024, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

He was born July 18, 1959, in Collins, Mississippi.

Curtis enjoyed watching sports and playing his lottery tickets, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Hardworking man that was employed at Comfort Inns as a houseman and had worked at many jobs in the past.

He leaves to cherish the love of his life, wife Johnnie Pearl Payton; a son Nequan Warren; three daughters; Sierra Payton, Destinee Payton and India Payton of Sandusky; a grandson, Myles Latta-Warren; and three granddaughters, Tinisha Warren, Sammi Warner and Lailah Booth. He leaves behind seven siblings: four brothers, Erdis, Frankie, Jerry and Jeffery Payton; three sisters; Terry Payton, Tonya (Mike) McGee and Bobbie Neil Darby; a well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Also a best friend, Albert Shumate.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Thelma M (Owens) Payton; brothers; Jessie Payton Jr., James Booth and Neal W Payton; sisters, Ruth "Mookie" Harvey and Jennifer Duckworth; and his daughter, Lyric Booth.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio 44870, with Pastor Mike McGee officiating. Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery.
