Elinor G. "Ellie" (Ortner) Ferback, 89, of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024.

She was born Nov. 13, 1934, in Sandusky, to Raymond and Virginia (Allen) Ortner, and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1953.

She was devoted member of Faith Church where she served as a greeter, choir member, women's bible study leader, and in the musicals. Ellie sang for many weddings and funerals. She was involved with singing in high school as a member of the Sandusky High School A Cappella Choir and also sang in the Resurrection Lutheran Church choir as a soprano. She volunteered for the Salvation Army and was a Republican poll worker for 40 years in Erie County. She loved to read, shop, bake, and be with her family and grandchildren. All the food tasted better at Grammy's house, even the toast and iced tea. When the house was full with family and friends, Ellie would feel the happiest.

She is survived by her children, Jeff (Cheryl) Ferback and Jodie (Scott) Thomson, both of Sandusky, and Jenny Ferback of Huron; grandchildren, Melissa Ferback, Beth Ferback, Alex (Sarah) Thomson, Abby (Chris) Campanelli, John Ferback, and Adam Koelsch; great-grandchildren, Anthony Koelsch, Colten Thomson, Madison Thomson, Drake Campanelli, and Blakely Campanelli; sister, Vicki (Frank) Johnson of Norwalk; and several nieces and nephews.

Ellie was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Richard "Dick" Ferback, in 2022; parents; granddaughter, Ellynn Koelsch; and sisters, Judy Shover and Valerie Pasqualini.

Visitation for friends will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, and 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, until the time of Ellie's funeral at 11 a.m. at Faith Church, 1320 E. Strub Rd., Sandusky. The Rev. Tom Groot and the Rev. Ken Hiser will officiate. Entombment will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
