Richard J. "Dick" Ferback, 93, of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 21, 2022.

He was born May 21, 1929, in Sandusky, to the late John and Lydia (Baus) Ferback and was a 1947 graduate of Sandusky High School. Dick was in U.S. Army, serving in the 520th QMC during the Korean War.

Dick devoted his life to Christ and his family. He was the most amazing, selfless, gracious, loving husband, father, and grampy that was always happiest when he was with family. He never met a stranger, always had a smile on his face, and loved to joke.

He worked several jobs supporting his family, including Coca Cola Driver in Sandusky, Fuller Brush Co., Sears Roebuck when it was in downtown Sandusky, Perkins Drive Thru, Ford Motor Company where he was called the Watch Man for fixing and selling watches, and Corso's Flower and Garden Center after retiring.

He was a devoted member of Faith Church where he was treasurer and assistant treasurer for over 25 years, sang in the choir, and played dart ball in the lutheran dart ball league for Zion Lutheran Church, Resurrection Lutheran Church, and Faith Church. Dick was known as Dad to many and admired by many of the men at church. He volunteered for Salvation Army and was a money counter for the kettles, member of Ford retirees local #1216, loved playing baseball and softball, collecting football and baseball cards, fixing everyone's Christmas lights, working in the yard, and reading his Bible.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elinor (Ortner) Ferback whom he married May 29, 1954; children, Jeff (Cheryl) Ferback of Sandusky, Jodie (Scott) Thomson of Sandusky, and Jenny Ferback of Huron; grandchildren, Melissa Ferback, Beth Ferback, Alex (Sarah) Thomson, Abbey (Chris) Campanelli, John Ferback, and Adam Koelsch; great-grandchildren, Anthony Koelsch, Colten Thomson, Madison Thomson, Drake Campanelli, and Blakely Campanelli; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Ellynn Koelsch.

Friends may call 3-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2022, at Faith Church, 1320 E. Strub Rd., Sandusky. Dick's funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022, at the church with the Rev. Tom Groot and the Rev. Ken Hiser officiating. Entombment will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

My condolences to the family. I have always enjoyed my previous conversations and fellowship on many different occasions with Mr Ferbeck as we are both Veterans and Christians. Even bought a Navy watch off from him one time, I appreciated this man of God
