Hoat Nguyen, 56, of Sandusky, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at The University of Toledo Medical Center following ongoing health complications.

Hoat was born September 14, 1969, in Vietnam to the late Nguyen Van Mau and Bui Thi Lanh.

Hoat was a talented chef and spent many years at Mekong and Small City Taphouse, where he was known as a skilled grill master. He found great joy in cooking, fishing, gardening, watching football, and caring for animals. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends, who were the center of his life.

Hoat is survived by his beloved wife, Ngoc Ha, whom he married May 26, 2010; his loving daughters, Heidi Nguyen, Hivey Nguyen, and Hope Nguyen; and many caring relatives.

Hoat will be remembered for his strength, resilience, and the quiet care he showed to others. May he rest in peace in God's loving embrace. May his memory continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the funeral home.
