Jane Lehrer, 90, Huron and formerly of Castalia, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, after a lengthy illness.

She was born August 31, 1934, in Genoa, New York, to the late John H. III and Marion (Halsey) Milliman. A 1952 graduate of Genoa High School (where she was a cheerleader), Jane furthered her education at Bowling Green State University, where she became a Phi Mu sorority sister and eventually met her life partner, Karl Lehrer, who she was married to for 65 years. She began teaching school at Perkins Schools and then spent the rest of her career as an elementary teacher retiring from the Margaretta school system.

She enjoyed summers at the lake in NY, reading, traveling, camping, boating, entertaining and for 24 years she and Karl were Snow Birds in Lantana, Florida. She loved spending time with her family as well as her group of friends that call themselves the DECTEL group.

She attended Grace Lutheran and most recently Trinity Lutheran Church.

Jane is survived by her two daughters, Sally (Marty) Smith and Adele (Gene) Hoffman of Castalia; five grandchildren, Tiffany (Brent) Maillard, Alex Smith, Katie (Eric) Berg, Karen (Ryan) Berg, and Bradley (Becky) Hoffman; nine great-grandchildren, Gage Byington, Ava, Tate, and Zeke Maillard, Jana, Julia, Jace, Gavin and Macie Berg; as well as her close friend, Donna Gerold.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Karl B Lehrer; brother, John H. Milliamn IV; sister, Mary (Bill) Hoffman; and granddaughter, Baby Girl Smith in infancy.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2025, until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. at Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St, Castalia, with the Reverend Jennifer Herrmann presiding. Burial will be at Castalia Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stein Hospice of the Western Reserve or Huron Township Rescue Squad Fund.

Sympathy to you Kenny,I just read recently that your Dad passed already also. Your parents was always kind and I enjoyed Jane as my English Tutor in school.
