Janet Ostheimer, 83, Sandusky, died Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Advanced Speciality Hospital, Toledo.

She was born July 6, 1939, on North Bass Island, to the late Cooley Burr and Hilda (Dircks) Ingles.

Janet worked for the City of Sandusky in the accounting office and was a homemaker.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sandusky, where she played trumpet in the church, and the local community band. Janet and her daughter, Joelean, played trumpet duets for lunch entertainment for area nursing homes and they were known as the Mother, Daughter Trumpeteers. They also attended college together at Firelands and received Associate Degrees in Arts and Science.

Janet always had a heart of compassion for others. She volunteered at the local hospital in material management, placing hospital information in patient files, and visiting patients with her dog, Sabrina.

She is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Joelean Ostheimer; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Ostheimer on April 7, 1979; parents; and siblings, Everett Ingles, Constance Stonerook, Chester Ingles, Henrietta Seville, Alice LeBeau, Fred C. Ingles, George Ingles, Arminta Goldt, and one in infancy.

Friends may call Friday, July 15, 2022, from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Condolences may be shared online by visiting toftfuneralhome.com.
