Sandusky
Lucy Anna (Brotzki) Braun, 91 (affectionately known as Gma or Granny Fox), died in hospice at Parkvue Community early Friday morning, February 14, 2025.
Lucy was born October 20, 1933, in Sandusky, to the late Frank and Lucy (Lucius) Brotzki, and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1951. She worked as a bookkeeper at Citizens Bank until marrying Joe Braun on May 30, 1956. Then she became a dedicated farm wife and raised eight children over their 52 years of marriage.
In addition to her family responsibilities, Lucy worked various jobs, including being treasurer of Braun Farms; however, she especially enjoyed her final position as an administrative assistant at Erie Residential Living, a non-profit organization serving adults with developmental disabilities.
Talented in various areas, Lucy was known by her family for baking delicious pies on Sunday, taking long walks down farm lanes, and getting comfortable with a good book. She shared her love of reading and history with her children and grandchildren. Lucy was a woman of simple pleasures, but her love for life was anything but ordinary. She had a special fondness for Toft's ice cream, a treat she never grew tired of, and she loved to share this joy with her family.
Lucy was known for her strength, her infectious spirit, and her ability to make everyone feel at home. She was a steadfast support to all who knew her, always offering comfort and care in her quiet, gentle way. Lucy was a 70 year member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, where she volunteered by helping with funeral luncheons and counting the weekly collection.
A strong believer in the importance and legacy of family, Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, her parents and four brothers, Frank, Bernie, Ralph, and John Brotzki.
Lucy is survived by her eight children, Marian (David) Schild, Jude (Norma) Braun, Timothy (Penny) Braun, Joseph (Debra) Braun, Constance (Duane) Koch, Richard (Kristin) Braun, Brian (Kelli) Braun, and Suzanne (Ted) Rogachuk. She will be fondly remembered by her 19 grandchildren, Andrew and Matt Schild, Nick and Andrew Braun, Allie Carrillo, Jake, Jon, Joe and Adam Braun, Keith Riesterer, Monica Argento, and Audrey Foster, Caleb and Sam Pribanic, Zach Braun and Natalie Mejia, Lexi Braun, and Brooke and Sloane Rogachuk; and 11 great-grandchildren, Lilly and Rory Schild, Lucy, Zoey and Penny Braun, Will and Maddie Carrillo and Otto Braun, Ryan Riesterer, Renee Braun and Santiago Mejia; as well as multiple brother and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and others.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2025, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited Friday morning, February 21, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Avenue, Sandusky, with the Rev. Prashanth Kumar officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
