Marlene Poock Obituary

Marlene Alice Poock

Apr 25, 1935 - Feb 21, 2025

Castalia

Marlene Alice Poock, 89, of Castalia, passed away peacefully Friday, February 21, 2025, at Parkvue Healthcare Center.

She was born April 25, 1935, in Sandusky to the late Carl Toft Sr. and Martha (Vorbau) Toft. Marlene graduated from Sandusky High School in 1953 and married Paul C. Poock on April 3, 1954.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Groton Township. Over the years, Mom and Dad raised six children. She also helped on their farm during planting and harvesting time and fed the animals, of which they raised sheep, geese, beef cattle, and a Shetland pony for the children to ride when they were old enough. One of Mom's pride and joys was her love of her flower gardens, and she always wanted family and friends to come closer for a good look at the flowers. Best of all, she loved being a mother and spending time with her family and especially loved when grandchildren came to visit.

In addition to her parents, Marlene is preceded in death by her husband, Paul C. Poock; her sister, Marjorie Hermes and her brother, Carl "Butch" Toft Jr.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia (Frank) Ball of Sandusky, Gwendolyn (David) Kelley of Sandusky, John (Donna) Poock of Sandusky, Gladys Johnson of Norwalk, Diane (Fred) Church of Milan, and Walter (Peggy) Poock of Bellevue; her grandchildren, Kristen (Laszlo) Tosa of Missouri City, Texas, Frank J. Ball of Sandusky, Kristina (Mitch) Reitsma of Allendale, Michigan, Lucas Poock of Long Beach, California, Katelyn (Ian) Oxender of Centerville, Kali Johnson of Long Island City, New York, Alyssa Johnson of Columbus, Ryan Johnson of Arlington, Virginia, Dakota Church of Columbus, Dalton Church of Milan, Paul (Danyelle) Poock of Bellevue, Jared Poock (fiancée Kat) of Castalia, Matthew Poock (fiancée Lindsay) of Bellevue and Ashleigh (Wyatt) Posey of Bellevue; her great-grandchildren, Isabella and Sophia Tosa, Leo and Cameron Oxender, Nate, Madilynn, and Sam Poock, Oliver Posey and baby Reitsma arriving in May; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call from 4–7 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2025, at the funeral home with Pastor Philip Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park.
