Mitchell Mesenburg Obituary

Mitchell Walter Mesenburg

Jun 13, 1961 - Jan 16, 2026

Venice, FL

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Mitchell Walter Mesenburg went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, January 16, 2026. Born in Norwalk, June 13, 1961, Mitch spent much of his life in Huron. There, he embarked on several entrepreneurial ventures, including founding the Donut Shop, Mesenburg Creative Catering with his brothers, and Mesenburg Odd Squad. Eventually, Mitch followed his passion and became a realtor.

In 2014, Mitch and his wife Shannon relocated to Florida, where they quickly became deeply involved in their new community. Their engagement with local life inspired Mitch's well-known "Why I Love Florida" editions, reflecting his enthusiasm for his surroundings.

Mitch's commitment to service deepened after experiencing a profound personal loss. After losing his brother, US Army Sgt. Terrance R. Mesenburg, who was Killed In Action in Vietnam in 1969, and his son, USAF Senior Airman XinHua S. Mesenburg, to suicide in 2019. Mitch co-founded Operation Solid 7 (OS7). This non-profit organization focuses on supporting positive mental health among veterans, active-duty service members, first responders, and Gold Star families. Through this work, Mitch made a meaningful difference locally and beyond, steadfastly supporting those who serve our country.

Mitch was passionate about his faith, his country, and his community. He was an active member of Englewood Chamber of Commerce, Lemon Bay Sunrise Rotary, and Fellowship Church of Englewood, contributing his time and energy to make a positive impact.

Mitch is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Shannon; his children, Ming (Patrick), Khien, and Marley; and his brothers, Rick (Gloria) and Randy (Sherri).

He is preceded in death by his son, XinHua; his brother Terry; his sister Peggy; and his parents, Rosemary and Walter Mesenburg.

A celebration of Mitch's life is planned for Saturday, March 7, 2026, with details to follow.
