Randall A. Herner, 92, of Norwalk, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Norwalk Memorial Home. Eighty and out plus twelve.

He was born July 4, 1930, in Monroeville, to the late Earl C. and E. Mae (Wheeler) Herner. He was a 1948 graduate of Willard High School. He was a machinist at Durable Mat and Boxboard Packaging and was known as a jack of all trades. He was instrumental in Lefty Grove Baseball as a coach and umpire for many years, and enjoyed playing chess, gardening, baseball, and especially watching Cleveland Indians. His family regards him as being insightful as a farmer's almanac and he operated R.A.'s Tinkershop in his retirement years.

He is survived by his children, Stephen Herner of Norwalk, Michael (Michele) Herner of Avon, and Lynn (John) Smith of Norwalk; grandchildren, Christopher, Adam (Kate), Jacquelyn, and Emily; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. (Plue) Herner in 1991; son, Charles Herner; and siblings, Mardell Zidarin, Jo Ann Fife, and Charles Herner.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Randall's funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
