Richard Ringholz Obituary

Richard "Rick" A. Ringholz

Sep 14, 1952 - Jul 14, 2025

Sandusky

Richard "Rick" A. Ringholz, 72, residing in Sandusky, passed away Monday evening, July 14, 2025, at home after a short bout of aggressive cancer.

Rick was born September 14, 1952, in Sandusky, to the late Donald and Mary (Kieffer) Ringholz.

Rick was a 1971 graduate of Sandusky High School and attended Terra State Community College, where he earned his HVAC-R certificate. He worked for 40 years as an HVAC technician in the maintenance department for various companies, including Sandusky Register, Sandusky Mall, and the former Providence Hospital.

Rick was a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed boating on Lake Erie, motorcycling, visiting Cedar Point, and gardening. He enjoyed sharing the bounty from his garden, especially his prized tomatoes. He also enjoyed working on his classic cars and displaying them in local car shows, especially his 1977 Z-28 Camaro. Rick shared his passion with his twin daughters and his four grandchildren. He loved supporting and attending their activities and interests. Even though very ill, he was recently able to attend his granddaughter's graduation from Naval Academy Prep School in Newport, Rhode Island. Rick was an active member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, where he previously served on the Baptism Ministry Team. Also served on We Can Weekend cancer support team. He was an active member in the former Camaro Club and participated in many local parades.

Rick met his future wife, Maribeth Volz, while they worked at Cedar Point in Frontier Town in the summer of 1969. They married September 22, 1972, and celebrated 52 years of marriage.

Rick is survived by his wife, Maribeth (Volz) Ringholz. He is also survived by his daughters, Sarah (Gregg) Peugeot of Sandusky and Rachel (Shane) Ewbank of Maumee; four grandchildren, Natalie and Brody Peugeot of Sandusky and Morgan and Bennett Ewbank both of Maumee; brother, Kenneth Ringholz; mother-in-law, Barbara Volz; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Ringholz; sister, Sondra Hasphaslagh; father-in-law, Robert Volz and brother-in-law, Roger Hasphaslagh.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave. Sandusky, with the Rev. Chris Turner presiding.

A truly wonderful co-worker and friend, always had a smile and a cheerful word, this was Rick. Whether one would see him at work or outside of work, he was always the same, such a warm and sunny disposition. Rick did his best to be his brothers' keeper, to love everyone, to treat others in the manner that he wanted to be treated. Our world is less without him. Blessings to his dear family, Maribeth and girls you were the great love of his life.
I pray that you gain comfort and solace and cling even more so to Our God Lord Savior Creator.

So very sorry to hear about Rick's passing. I always think of the boat tour Rick gave us when we came for our Ohio visit in 2012. We had so much fun.
Whenever I think of Maribeth and Rick, I think True Love. I know he will be greatly missed. Lifting you and your family up with prayer. Praising God for the eternal life He offers through Christ Jesus.
