Rick Spears, 66, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, Sept. 2, 2022, at his home following a lengthy illness.

Rick was born July 25, 1956, in Louisa, Kentucky, to the late Floyd and Ethel Spears.

Rick was a roofer and musician for over 20 years and also worked at Ohio Veterans Home in the dietary services department. He attended Wayside Temple. Rick was a workaholic and worked until he physically could not anymore. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Rick is survived by his daughters, Mandy Ehlers and Sarah Spears; son, Richard (Autumne) Spears; grandchildren, BJ, Annie, Luke, Christian, Izzy, Alena, Samuel, Stasia, Neveah, and Jayce; two great-grandchildren; sister, Karen Clapp; brothers, Charles, Philip, and Brian Spears; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann (Truitt) Spears on July 9, 2018; sister, Kathy Copeland; brother, Bobbie Spears; and son-in-law, Brandon Ehlers Sr.

Friends may call 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, until the time of Rick's funeral at 11 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Pastor Randy Yost of Wayside Temple will officiate. Burial will follow at Perkins Cemetery, Sandusky.
