Rolland Schlessman Obituary

Rolland J Rollie Schlessman

Dec 14, 1938 - Sep 16, 2025

Huron

Rolland "Rollie" John Schlessman, 86, of Huron, Ohio, passed away peacefully the evening of Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Stein Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.

Born December 14, 1938, he was the son of Edward and Berneita Schlessman. Rollie lived in Huron his entire life, dedicating himself to farming from a young age. He often said he was fortunate to have a profession he truly enjoyed-it never felt like work. Rollie was the hardest-working man, and he poured his heart into both his farm and his family. He leaves behind not only the work of his hands but a legacy of love, integrity, and determination that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Rollie is survived by his beloved wife, Myrna Schlessman; his children: Dale (Cindy) Schlessman, Keith (Diane) Schlessman, Thomas (Amy) Schlessman, and Lisa Chill (Mike); and five cherished grandchildren, Ashlee Schlessman-Joseph (Christopher), Allison Doerner (Chris), Alex Schlessman (Brittany), Aaron Schlessman (Allissa), and AddieLynn Hoffman.

He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Parker, Thea, Oliver, Henry, and Jane; as well as his two brothers, David Schlessman and Kenneth Schlessman.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Schlessman; his parents, Edward and Berneita Schlessman; his brother, Denver Schlessman; and his sister-in-law, Mary K. Schlessman.

Rollie was a proud member of the Army Reserves and a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sandusky, Ohio.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025, followed by a funeral service at St. John Lutheran Church, 106 Scheid Road Sandusky, Ohio 44870

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or Stein Hospice.

Rollie was a kind, dedicated & hardworking farmer & cousin who I had the privilege of being his flower girl in first wedding to Janet. In later years I introduced him to his second wife Myrna who's been his constant companion throughout the rest of his life. Anyone who knew Rollie would remember his infectious smile & positive attitude. He will be so missed by all! RIP Rollie

I was a neighbor of Rollie for many years, and our families' farming connections go back three generations. He was passionate, generous, friendly, and a hard worker. Goodbye Rollie.
